For a long time, our weekends had a rhythm to them.
Saturday mornings started early—wrestling tournaments, weigh-ins, long days in the gym. If you’ve ever had a kid in wrestling, you know it’s not just a quick match and done. It’s a full-day commitment.
This past year especially, it was next level.
We were juggling between my older son’s wrestling matches, then running off to my younger son’s basketball games, and then heading right back to wrestling… all within the same day.
It was nonstop. A lot of driving. A lot of quick meals. A lot of bouncing between gyms.
But looking back, those are the days I’ll remember the most.
When Things Don’t Go As Planned
This season didn’t end the way we thought it would.
Two weeks before playoffs, my older son fractured his arm.
Just like that, his season—and his wrestling career—came to a premature end.
No final matches. No postseason run. No real “last match” moment that you picture as a parent.
It was tough. For him especially.
But if there’s one thing wrestling teaches, it’s resilience. And even in that moment, I saw that in him.
Sometimes the way things end isn’t how we write it up in our heads—but there’s still a lot to be proud of.
Sundays Had Their Own Rhythm
After those packed Saturdays, Sundays were a little different.
Church in the morning, brunch with the family, then I’d head out to host open houses.
That balance—family first, then work—became our routine.
And it’s something I’ve always tried to protect.
A New Chapter: Basketball Weekends
Now, our weekends have shifted.
We’re fully in basketball season with my younger son.
The pace feels different, but the commitment is still there.
And Sundays still look the same—church, brunch with the family, then off to open houses.
Some things don’t change.
What This Means for My Clients
These seasons have shaped how I approach my business.
I understand how quickly things can change—because I’ve experienced it firsthand.
That’s why I focus on being present, prepared, and adaptable for my clients.
Whether it’s making sure a home is ready before a showing, being there to walk through questions, or adjusting to timelines that don’t always go as planned—I approach it with the same mindset.
Stay steady. Show up. Do the work.
Final Thoughts
Life moves in seasons.
Some end the way you expect. Others don’t.
But every season—whether it’s long Saturdays going back and forth between wrestling and basketball, or an ending that comes sooner than expected—has something to teach you.
Right now, we’re in our basketball season.
And I’m making sure to take it all in.
Because those moments go by fast.
